It’s time again to take a moment to recognize and celebrate the impact women continue to make across the construction industry. ECAM is proud to highlight the talented, dedicated women on our team whose expertise and leadership help support construction projects every day.
Women in Construction (WIC) Week 2026 is an industry-wide celebration hosted by the National Association of Women in Construction (NAWIC) March 1st– 7th, 2026. The week is all about raising awareness of opportunities for women in this critical sector and promoting a more diverse and inclusive workforce.
Women have been reshaping the construction industry in real and measurable ways, not just by joining the workforce, but by influencing how projects are planned, managed, and executed. As of 2025–2026, women make up roughly 11–12% of the U.S. construction workforce (with higher representation in management, design, and engineering roles), and their presence continues to grow across both leadership and skilled trades.
As that percentage continues to grow, these women are continually making an impact on the industry. From site supervision and safety leadership to engineering, logistics, and executive roles, women are helping drive smarter workflows, stronger collaboration, and more resilient project outcomes. Across the industry, they’re contributing to better risk management, stronger communication between stakeholders, and more adaptive planning strategies. Contributions like these are critical in a sector facing labor shortages, rising material costs, and tighter timelines.
Data continues to reinforce what many construction firms are already seeing firsthand: diverse teams deliver stronger performance. Studies from McKinsey and other workforce research groups show that organizations with greater gender diversity are more likely to outperform peers in productivity, innovation, and profitability. In construction specifically, companies with more diverse leadership report improvements in safety culture, employee retention, and project efficiency, three of the industry’s biggest operational challenges today.
Women in construction are also playing a growing role in pushing the industry forward technologically. They are helping lead the adoption of digital project management tools, prefabrication workflows, AI-supported planning systems, and more rigorous safety monitoring practices. Their influence is showing up in everything from improved jobsite communication protocols to more thoughtful workforce development programs designed to attract the next generation of skilled labor.
Construction is under pressure to build faster, operate safer, and manage risk more intelligently than ever before. Meeting those demands requires a broader range of perspectives, experiences, and problem-solving approaches. The expanding role of women in construction isn’t simply a workforce trend; it’s a competitive advantage in an industry that increasingly depends on innovation, collaboration, and operational precision.
As the sector continues to modernize and scale, the contributions of women across construction – from the jobsite to the boardroom – are helping define what the future of the industry looks like.
At ECAM, our construction security specialists include some of the best and brightest women in the industry.
