Allister Smith, MD, is Vice President of Artificial Intelligence at ECAM, where he leads the development of proprietary AI and computer vision systems that enhance proactive security monitoring and threat detection. He has worked in AI-enhanced video surveillance since 2016, focusing on applied machine learning systems designed to improve accuracy, reduce false positives, and support real-world security outcomes at scale.

Allister brings a unique combination of expertise in software development, deep learning, and high-acuity operational decision-making. In addition to his technology leadership, he has clinical experience in emergency medicine, which informs his approach to building resilient systems for complex, high-stakes environments.

Outside of ECAM, Allister is the founder of Virelai Technologies, an AI consultancy specializing in machine learning solutions across security, healthcare, and education. His work has included object detection platforms, predictive analytics tools, and applied AI systems developed in collaboration with leading institutions.
