Warehouse security needs to expand beyond traditional locks, gates, and security cameras. Criminals are getting smarter. Two industrial properties had security cameras in place but were still robbed. Their cameras weren’t watched live. The video was only recorded and accessed after the thefts happened and the thieves left the premises. As a result, the cameras were unable to help stop the heists from occurring.

Los Angeles Warehouse Loses $4.5 Million Worth of Merchandise
Thieves stole about $4.5 million worth of high-end cosmetics from a San Fernando Valley warehouse. The Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) said that an unknown number of suspects gained access to the warehouse by sawing through the roof. The thieves stole more than 100,0000 eye shadow palettes. An LAPD spokesperson said there was no warehouse security video of the incident. The thieves have not been caught and there have not been any reported updates.
Thieves Steal 30,000 Condoms From a Las Vegas Warehouse
Thieves hit a Las Vegas, Nevada warehouse twice during a holiday weekend. The warehouse security video showed two men gaining access to the warehouse at 7:45 p.m on a Friday night. They entered through the back gate. Several minutes later, the thieves left the warehouse with boxes of more than 30,000 condoms.
At 10:30 the next morning, a rental car rammed through a loading dock of the same warehouse. Warehouse security video showed one of the suspects grab three boxes of sex toys. The afflicted company asked the community for assistance in identifying the thieves.
Thieves Steal more than $20,000 Worth of Alcohol in Maryland
Two men were charged with stealing more than $20,000 worth of alcohol from a box truck at the Montgomery County Department of Liquor Control (DLC) warehouse. Montgomery County is part of the Washington DC metro area. The police said the suspects worked for the DLC. This isn’t the first warehouse theft at the DLC building. It was hit twice in April and four times in May. One of the suspects allegedly sold stolen alcohol at least once. Warehouse security was not reported at this location.
