A brand new Porsche dealership needed a better car theft prevention solution to keep an organized crew from stealing expensive inventory. A total of seven high-end sports cars were driven off a car dealership lot in Memphis, Tennessee. The stolen vehicles were five Porsche Panameras and two Porsche 911 coupes.

According to the NBC local news, the car thieves entered the Memphis show room after the service department opened but before most of the sales team arrived. The suspects bypassed the existing dealer security and broke into a private room. This room had hundreds of spare sets of keys and owner’s manuals.
The car dealership owner felt that the car thieves had an inside man. That is how they were able to bypass the car theft prevention system. Memphis Police were notified about the stolen vehicles. The owner said that a person could not just come into the dealership and find those specific seven cars unless he had been on the property or someone told him where to find them. One of the owner’s fears was that these cars would be shipped overseas. Each car was worth about $100,000, but could be priced at $200,000 overseas. The stolen cars were covered by insurance.
